About Us
 Welcome
to the Newport Township Fire Protection
District web page. We are proud to serve the people who live, work and
travel within Newport Township.
Newport Township is located in
northeast Illinois on the Wisconsin border. The District has
approximately 4,500 residents and covers 32 square miles located in Lake
County. The department's
ISO
rating improved as of January 13th, 2003 to
a CLASS 5.
Department Profile
We are
primarily a volunteer organization supplemented with two
firefighter/paramedics on duty at the station twenty-four hours a day.
We service a 32 square mile area from our main station in Wadsworth.
All of our members are state certified and maintain a high level of
continuing education throughout their membership with us.

The Newport Township Fire Protection
District proudly assists our neighboring communities through our mutual
aid agreements. Our mutual aid agreements and the cooperation of our
neighbors assure unlimited resources for dealing with emergencies.
