Interested in becoming a Paid On Call Firefighter? Looking to learn
the skills required to become a firefighter and emergency medical
technician? Looking to provide a vital service to a community?
We sponsor candidates through the Northwest Lake County Fire Academy
each year. If you are interested in learning about becoming a Paid On
Call Firefighter applications are available at the fire station 7 days a
week between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Applicants must be 21 years or older, have obtained a high school
diploma or GED, be of good morale character, be a U.S. citizen, posses a
valid drivers license, and have a good work ethic. Applicants do not
need prior fire or emergency medical services training as you will be
sent to class if you successfully pass the selection process.
Candidates must attend an orientation to learn of the time
commitment, pass a written, oral, and physical ability exam, and undergo
a background check and physical examination.
Preference is given to candidates within the fire protection
district, and applicants from outside the fire protection district will
be required to sleep in the station on their duty nights.
Applications are taken throughout the year, those on file will be
contacted in February/March to begin the process with an orientation.
Applications are being taken at this time.
